Pakse

Pakse has a population of around 60,000 and is the 4th largest city in Laos behind Vientiane, Savannaket and Luang Prabang. There's not alot of foreign influence in this part of Laos, so Pakse is probably the best place to get a glimpse of traditional Lao way of life.

Definately worth a visit is the Pakse market and the Palace Hotel. This hotel was built to be a palace for the King of Laos but it was never used for this purpose so it was converted into a hotel. It's quite a beautiful and impressive building.

We also took some shots of the Lao-Nippon Bridge, this bridge is 1.4km long and it was opened in 2000. Unlike other major bridges in Laos, the Lao-Nippon Bridge is located entirely in Lao territory so both sides of the bridge is Laos. Pakse is in southern Laos so the climate tends to be more hotter and humid than Vientiane and Luang Prabang.
