Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang is the former royal capital of Laos and a World Heritage site since 1995. It is located about 250 km north of Vientiane, to which it is connected by highway but travelling to Luang Prabang from Vientiane by road is not really recommended especially for those who get car sick, because the road zig zags up and down mountains most of the journey.

The main attractions in Luang Prabang is the Royal Palace, Mount Phousi and Wat Xieng Thong (Golden City Temple). There are also many French colonial buildings in Luang Prabang and many western tourists visit the city all year round. Some people think that Luang Prabang is a beautiful city with many temples and beautiful nature.
